Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Gatherings
Every month, our Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion meetings take place virtually. Facilitated by Board Members Darren Calhoun and Carrie N., this is an opportunity to be in a learning, discussion, and community space.
Upcoming Gathering
What Pride Means to Me | June 7, 2026 | 7:00PM-8:30PM EST
Pride Month is almost here, and Q Christian Fellowship is ready to celebrate with you! We’re hosting an interactive Zoom celebration and story-share, featuring several guests from inside the QCF community. Facilitated by Darren Calhoun and Carrie N., this EDI gathering is your chance to hear what Pride means to others—and to share your own story, too. So, wear something colorful, bring your favorite snack, and get ready for meaningful conversations in both small groups and the main room.
We hope you will join a supportive group of people who are passionate about learning the nuances of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Whether you're new or seasoned, we hope you'll find a home here with us. Sign up for this gathering today!

Let’s Discuss ‘Interpretation’
In this learning session, we will discuss what it means to interpret, paying attention to the intrinsic connection between human lived experience and interpretation. We will explore how interpretation is not something we merely do; it’s what we are.

Shared Power, Conflict, and Accountability – Cultivating Liberative Relationships
How can we actively resist the forces that seek to distance, divide, and dehumanize us within our interpersonal relationships? How can we use an understanding of shared power to cultivate and sustain the types of relationships we want?
May, 2025 | The Right Rev. Gordon Barcalow, Dr. Wes King, & Darren Calhoun
Intimate Paths: Polygamy, Monogamy, & Celibacy Across Christian History
From the communal households of the early church to medieval mandates on celibacy, through Reformation‑era debates on marriage and today’s conversations about polyamory and queer relationships, norms have never been static. By tracing when—and why—the church began prescribing relationship norms, we’ll uncover how culture, power, and theology intersect.
April, 2025 | The Right Rev. Gordon Barcalow
Faith, Love, and Non Monogamy
What does it mean to be both openly polyamorous and a person of faith? How do queerness and polyamory intersect in a spiritual context? In this workshop, we will share lived experiences of being an openly polyamorous Christian minister and talk about polyamory, relationship hierarchies, and what we can all learn from our poly siblings.
March, 2025 | Andy Wells
Queer Christian Confidence: Embracing Identity and Navigating Faith
Join us for an empowering learning session designed to help LGBTQ+ Christians confidently express their identities, dive into discussions on challenging texts, like the clobber passages, and learn how to build resilience against marginalization. This interactive experience will be led by one of our wonderful QCF Community Group leaders, Andy Wells, so bring your journals and get ready to engage!
November, 2024 | Grace Thomas & Dr. Wes King
Open Conversation with Gender Expansive Parents
In this session, our guests discuss their experiences as trans/gender-expansive folks and what it is like to be a parent as they navigate their own identities and the identities present in their respective families. Lived experiences can be challenging and rewarding, and we explore the ways in which this is true for both Grace and Wes.
October, 2024 | delfin w. bautista
Sacred Transgressions
In this gathering, we explore transgressive theologies and religious narratives through the lives and experiences of trans people. Adopting both an ecumenical lens and an interfaith lens, delfin shares how religious communities engage (or don’t engage) gender diversity. Together we will claim, reclaim, and proclaim as trans people that “we are here, we have always been here, and we will always be here.”
August, 2024 | Tasha Mitchell, Katie Fong, and Myles Markham
Is Patriarchy here? How Patriarchy Influences LGBTQ+ Communities
We are excited to bring together Tasha Mitchell, Katie Fong and Myles Markham, to talk together about patriarchy and the ways that patriarchy may be present in queer spaces (in general and related to Christianity). In our conversation we will describe patriarchy, discuss how it shows up in our interactions (at the interpersonal/interpersonal level, and within our cultures and social structures), and how we can respond to it when we notice it.
July, 2024 | Kai Ngu
Gender (and Sexual) Pluralism outside of the Contemporary West
In this workshop, Kai Ngu (they/them) will give an overview of histories, traditions, and current expressions of gender (and sexual) pluralism outside of the contemporary Western world, with a focus on SE Asia. How do these models provide an alternative way of being (in one’s gender and beyond)? What do these models illuminate about the particularities of Western frameworks?
April, 2024 | The Reverend Isaiah “Shaneequa” Brokenleg & The Rev. Dr. Jerry Maynard
Two Spirit Experiences and Perspectives
Join us for an open conversation between The Reverend Isaiah “Shaneequa” Brokenleg (she/her) and The Rev. Dr. Jerry Maynard (he/they) as they share some overview of what it means to be Two Spirit in their indigenous communities, and their stories as Two Spirit individuals.
March, 2024 | August Laperche
The LGBTQ+ and Christian "Problem"
"I am queer. I am Christian. How is that possible? Can these things be true at the same time?" If you've found yourself asking these questions, you are in good company! There is much public debate about the validity of being an LGBTQ+ person who is also Christian, and who affirms their own identities and the identities of others in the LGBTQ+ community within a Christian framework. This workshop will discuss entry points into conversations about the assumed "problem" of the tensions between Christianity and being LGBTQ+.
