Parents of Newly Out LGBTQ+ People Relational Guide

Q Christian’s first Relational Guide, Parents of Newly Out LGBTQ+ People, was authored by B.T. Harman, creator of Blue Babies Pink and founder of Harbor. Parents of newly out LGBTQ+ children are thrust into a situation where they need to quickly and often unexpectedly develop a new language and practice of expressing unconditional love for their child. This Relational Guide serves as a first step into that journey.

Sexuality & Spirituality Affirmation Guide

Q Christian has designed and edited our first Affirmation Guide on Sexuality and Spirituality, authored by Rev. Tonetta Landis-Aina. This seminal resource covers various ethical postures considered by members of the LGBTQ+ Christian community, featuring dozens of quotes from additional scholars, theologians, writers, poets, and more. No matter the sexual ethics you have adopted as part of your journey, you'll find this work to be significant and applicable for you.

Harbor

Harbor is an online support program for Christian parents of LGBT kids. It's designed to surround parents with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to draw them closer to their children.

Embracing the Journey

Embracing the Journey is a Christ-centered international non-profit ministry dedicated to building bridges between LGBTQ+ individuals, their families, and the Church, even when they seem at odds. We do this not in spite of the Bible but because of the Bible.

We help parents embrace their journey and move from a place of fear to survival and ultimately thrive by loving their children well while leaning into their faith. We offer a wide array of services, including:

  • One-on-one coaching and biblical-based counsel

  • Virtual parent care groups across North American time zones and as far away as the United Kingdom and Ethiopia.

  • Church partnerships

  • Curated material, including books, videos, articles, podcasts, etc.

We do not charge for any services because of the generous financial support from families and churches that our ministry has blessed.

Freedhearts

We provide stellar live, printed and filmed content - for parents, LGBTQ, and those in the church. From intimate retreat gatherings, conferences, parent support groups, one-day workshops and speaking events; to articles, books and study guides; to video messages and conference-length courses for individuals and groups: each conveys a message of lavish love and inclusion.

Kathy Baldock – Canyonwalker Connections

The mission of Canyonwalker Connections, founded in 2011 by Executive Director Kathy Baldock, is to repair the division existing between social and Christian conservatives and the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community through education, training, encouragement, and dialogue in both secular and religious environments.

Parent Connect

Parent Connect is a Care Ministry of  North Point Church in Alpharetta GA. The goal of Parent Connect is to provide a safe environment for parents of LGBT children to experience community and personal growth. In Parent Connect, you will  1) Experience a safe environment in which to connect with other parents of LGBT children. 2) Explore God’s purposes for you as the parent of an LGBT individual. 3) Learn how to love your LGBT son or daughter well while not sacrificing your faith. Parent Connect groups meet monthly in homes and are led by group facilitators.

Love Well

Love Well is faith-based support for parents and loved ones of LGBTQ individuals based in Orland Park IL , where they can bring their pain and confusion and can process their common experiences together. In this safe and  confidential environment, parents begin to recognize that they are not alone, and that God is enough for them...even for this journey. As we look to the example of Jesus, He empowers us to refocus our hearts, and grow in loving our children well, even if we may disagree with their choices.

Fortunate Families

Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) Catholics and their allies are present in all parts of our Church and should be valued and celebrated as members of the colorful family of God. With our partners in the Equally Blessed Coalition, we seek to educate and inspire Catholics to take action which promotes the dignity of LGBT people, their families and friends. We support efforts to create welcoming and healing spaces, amplify the pro-LGBT Catholic voice, advocate for LGBT church workers, parishioners and allies and much more.

Risking Grace by Dave Jackson

Risking Grace is a father’s story about his agonizing personal journey of coming to realize that evangelicals have lost their way when it comes to gay people by substituting a works/righteousness requirement for the clear Gospel message that salvation comes by grace through faith alone. Dave explores alternative interpretations to the “prohibitive texts,” but the main foundation for his change of heart is the life and ministry of Jesus, how he embraced marginalized people, and the way he and the early church dealt with difficult issues.

Oriented to Love | Christians for Social Action

Are you an LGTBQ+ Christian who has struggled to believe that there is a place for you in the Body of Christ? Perhaps you’ve been treated as an “issue” or a problem to be solved, and you feel misunderstood, unwelcome, even traumatized, but you cling to Jesus and yearn for a community in which to deepen your faith walk, offer your gifts, and thrive. Are you a family member or friend of a queer Christian, and feel battered and confused by how often the Good News, as lived out by the church, fails to be good for you or your loved ones? Christians disagree on what constitutes a faithful living out of our sexuality and gender, but unity is still possible — a unity that is deeper than agreement—and so is true Christian community.

Estuary Space

Estuary Space helps people of faith navigate through the nuances of human sexuality and the Christian faith. We provide support for parents of LGBTQ+ children, pastoral counseling for people processing their sexuality and consultation for church leaders.:

Help! My Kid Just Came Out!

Launched in partnership with All Out, this resource provides support and guidance for Christian parents or guardians whose kid comes out.
