Celebrating the Sacramentality of Gender Diversity | Monday Invocation
Last week we observed International Non-Binary People's Day, which is a part of Non-Binary Awareness Week. This is a time aimed at raising awareness of the issues experienced by non-binary individuals around the world.
In that spirit, it is worth remembering that despite rejection, violence, and attempts to eliminate our personhood, bodies, narratives, and experiences, queer and trans people have theologized our lives, refusing to be silenced and erased. Not only have we survived, we have anchored our thriving in transgressive and transformative wholizing ways.
To explore this, presenter delfín bautista led a session titled Transgressive Theologies: Celebrating the Sacramentality of Gender Diversity as part of our Pre-Conference Breakout Session Series leading up to the 2026 Conference.
Grounded in Latine and Liberation theological frameworks, this session explores how the lives of trans, non-binary, and gender expansive people can provide anchoring insights for all people's spiritual journeys of discovering and embracing a deeper and truer sense of self.
