Finding Our Anchor in Turbulent Times | Monday Invocation

In turbulent times like those of Elijah or those that we’re living in today, we need anchors beyond the momentary ‘victories’.
— Micah Melody Taberner

At our most recent QCF Conference, Micah Melody Taberner, Executive Director of Transmission Ministry Collective, delivered a keynote that named just how difficult the past year (or two, maybe even three) has left many in our community exhausted, overwhelmed, or struggling to hold onto hope. The relentless news cycle, along with the weight of showing up for justice while caring for yourself and the people you love, is a lot. Micah Melody named how those themes reflected themselves in her personal life and in her work.

Drawing from Hebrews 6:19-20 and the story of Elijah found in 1 Kings 19, we hear Micah Melody draw parallels and name three anchors for surviving turbulent times. This is not a keynote that tells you to push through. It's one that gives you permission to rest and reminds you that rest is essential to the work of justice.
