Real Moments, Real Voices: LGBTQ+ Family Advocacy Scenarios
Session Leader: Carrie N.
Description: In this interactive session, participants will step into real-life scenarios that LGBTQ+ people often face within family systems. Through guided role-play and reflection, you’ll have the opportunity to listen deeply, practice advocacy, and explore what it looks like to show up with courage and care in complex moments. Together, we will gently engage the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ people, making space for nuance, emotion, and growth. This is not about getting it “right,” but about growing your capacity to respond with empathy, affirmation, and love. Whether you are new to this journey or continuing to deepen your understanding, this space invites you to expand your awareness and practice being an advocate your loved ones can trust.
Creative & Reflection Hour
Session Leader: Mick Atencio
Description: Facilitated by QCF Program & Development Director, Mick Atencio, this open, gently guided space invites you to slow down, breathe, and tend to whatever is rising within you during the Parent & Family Summit. Together, we will create a flexible environment shaped by those in the room—whether you need quiet reflection, meaningful conversation, creative expression, or simply a place to be. Light prompts and optional creative practices will be available, but there is no pressure to participate in any particular way. You are welcome to engage, rest, listen, share, or simply exist in the presence of others who understand. This hour is an invitation to honor your own pace. Come as you are, and help co-create a space of care, connection, and gentle integration as we hold the stories, learning, and emotions that emerge throughout the summit.

Responding with Love: A Parent Practice Space
Session Leader: Pastor Danny Cortez
Description: This session offers a supportive, low-pressure environment for parents and caregivers to practice responding to real-life conversations with their LGBTQ+ loved ones. Through guided role-play and shared reflection, you’ll explore how to move from initial reactions to responses rooted in love, curiosity, and connection. Together, we will name the tensions many parents experience—grief, fear, hope, and deep love—and create space to practice staying present through them. This is a space to build confidence, try new approaches, and grow your ability to communicate in ways that nurture trust and belonging. You don’t need to have it all figured out to participate. Come as you are, and leave with practical tools, deeper compassion for yourself, and a renewed sense of how to show up with love.
