It seems like every generation has moments and movements that “define” that generation. Where were you when the Berlin Wall came down? Where were you when the Twin Towers fell? Some of us can name the exact room we were standing in. Some of us weren’t born yet—and still carry how those moments impacted our families, how we inherited their stories, and how we’ve made meaning of the events in our lives.

On September 6 at 7:00pm ET we’re looking at heritage up close. Not the “way-back” times, not another continent—but the last generation or two. We’ll explore the music, the moments, the neighborhoods, the migrations, and the things left unspoken at the dinner table. This is about our personal stories and our recent histories. What has made you, you?

We’ll reflect on the lenses our experiences have given us—the ones we’re aware of and the ones we didn’t choose but were handed. We’ll notice what quietly shaped what feels “normal,” and the lenses that keep other people’s lives out of view.
